7 Days of Positive: Day 145 – Vale Mr Corbett

Since the news that Ronnie Corbett has died, my Facebook feed has been alive with clips of him with the other Ronnie, Mr Barker, from their famous joint show.

I loved that programme at the time and revisiting those clips has been just as enjoyable as watching it fresh in the 1970s and 80s.

This clip is my favourite of the ones posted so far. It makes me laugh so much my family keep coming in to see if I’m alright.

What I love – apart from the expressions on their faces – is how good their costumes, hair and make up are in all their skits. They clearly worked with really good people, with the BBC setting the benchmark in those days.

Mr Barker’s frock in this one is simply perfect – and as for Mr Corbett’s wig, it leaves me lost for words (unusual…) how spot on they got it.

But I think what I love about them most of all is you can see how much they were enjoying themselves.

Literally LOL – and I’m thrilled there’s so much of it on YouTube to re-visit.

My late Grandmother adored ‘The Two Ronnies’ and I have many fond memories of watching the program with her as a child in the 70s and 80s. Her lounge room had a brown vinyl three piece lounge set (later replaced by a divan), brown and orange shagpile carpet and geometric patterned wallpaper of brown and cream.

    And it’s goodnight from him…
